Client’s challenge:
EPP trays used by the client to secure precision components during in-house transport and storage became contaminated over time. Fine particles such as dust, lint, and debris generated during handling and stacking settled on the tray surfaces. Due to the properties of EPP, wet cleaning was unsuitable. The material absorbs moisture, which causes deformation and loss of functional properties.
The client was looking for a solution that would:
- effectively remove dry contaminants without using water
- meet technical cleanliness requirements
- enable full automation and integration with the existing production line
- ensure a repeatable process with short cycle times
Solution:
At the start of the project, we evaluated different cleaning technologies based on the material characteristics, type of contamination, and process requirements. Following this analysis, we designed and implemented the NOYEN Expert T cleaning system, based on ionized air cleaning supported by an immediate particle extraction system.The device was fully integrated with the client’s production line, enabling automatic tray handling and synchronized dry cleaning with other process stages. The cleaning cycle lasted approximately 40 seconds per tray, with the machine designed to handle parts weighing up to 6 kg.
The process consisted of the following steps:
- Ionized air blow-off – a nozzle system directed 6-bar compressed ionized air onto the tray surfaces from all sides (top, bottom, lateral).
- Instant particle extraction – contaminants were continuously removed from the work chamber in real time, preventing re-deposition.
- Electrostatic charge reduction – ionization neutralized electrostatic buildup, minimizing dust adhesion after the cycle.
The multi-directional airflow and high-intensity particle removal ensured effective dry cleaning without the use of water, chemicals, or mechanical contact.
