Optimization of the KLT container cleaning process – implementation of the NOYEN Expert T cleaning system

Optimization of the KLT container cleaning process - implementation of the NOYEN Expert T cleaning system

Our long-term client operating in the automotive industry uses KLT intralogistics containers for internal transport and component storage. As a result of intensive use, the containers and plastic trays became contaminated – dust, dirt, and residues of process oils accumulated inside them. An additional issue was the use of the same containers for transporting both dirty and clean parts, which created a risk of cross-contamination between production operations.

What did the client need?

The client approached us with the need to implement a solution enabling effective cleaning and drying of polypropylene (PP) containers and trays. The key objectives were to ensure the visual cleanliness of the containers and to achieve complete drying of the elements before reuse.

The KLT containers were available in several sizes: 400x300x150 mm, 400x300x210 mm, and 300x200x150 mm. The process was to include cleaning of the lids and dividers matched to these containers. All elements were made of polypropylene.

The biggest challenge of the project was achieving efficient and uniform drying of the components following the cleaning process. Due to the complex geometry of the containers and their internal and external surfaces, ater tended to accumulate in structural recesses and cavities. This required the development of an individual hot air blowing system and optimal placement of drying collectors. Precise adjustment of air-blowing directions and nozzle design allowed for complete drying of containers and trays while maintaining high process efficiency.

The solution implemented for the client

In response to the client’s needs, we implemented the NOYEN Expert T-1000-WRD cleaning system, designed for cleaning plastic components used in transport processes in the automotive industry.

Cleaning process stages:

  • Spray cleaning: removal of surface contaminants, dust, and oils.
  • Spray rinsing: removal of detergent residues and fine particles.
  • Convection drying: intensive hot air blowing directed inside the containers and onto their external surfaces.

The cleaning cycle time allowed for achieving a throughput of 280 container sets per hour, including the complete cleaning, rinsing, and drying process. Thanks to the optimized design of the collectors and individual transport paths, high efficiency was maintained while ensuring full drying of the elements.

The machine was equipped with a closed-loop working bath system with filtration and an oil separator, which extended bath lifetime and reduced the frequency of bath replacement.

Benefits for the client

  • Effective removal of oil and dust contamination from KLT containers and trays.
  • Complete drying of elements due to the optimized layout of drying collectors.
  • High process efficiency – up to 280 container sets per hour.
  • Possibility of simultaneous cleaning of different types of elements in separate tracks.
  • Automation of the cleaning process and reduction of operator involvement.
  • Increased bath durability due to the filtration and oil separation system.
  • Maintenance of container cleanliness and elimination of the risk of secondary contamination of production parts.

What did the client gain from cooperation with NOYEN?

The implementation of the NOYEN Expert T-1000-WRD system allowed the client to optimize the cleaning process of intralogistics containers, ensuring a repeatable and fully automatic cleaning and drying process. Thanks to individually designed transport paths and an optimized drying system layout, complete visual cleanliness and dryness of all elements were achieved. The solution significantly improved the organization of container circulation in the plant and increased the efficiency of logistics and quality processes in the automotive production environment.
